Teodora Velescu and Lari Giorgescu’s "Special People" at Battery Dance Festival

Updated: Aug 28, 2023

We are excited to get back to Battery Dance Festival, our long-term partner and one of New York’s major choreographic events, with Special People, an exploratory performance conceived and performed by Teodora Velescu and Lari Giorgescu, two of Romania’s most accomplished dancers. A production of the Romanian National University of Theatre and Film (UNATC), in partnership with unteatru independent company and with the support of RCI New York, the show investigates how, in a hedonistic society, the consuming desire for material goods affects one’s body and mind. The poignant costumes made by designer Corina Boboc and the original soundtrack composed by Electric Brother, Adrian Nour, Adrian Piciorea, Daniel Stănciucu and performed by Aylin Cadir complement the expressive choreography to create a vivid picture of the absurdity of a purely materialistic life.

The show runs on August 14 & August 16 from 7 pm at Rockefeller Park – Battery Park City. Details about the festival, the full program, this year`s performers&shows, and access HERE.
