Emerging brand Pipenco is set to debut its latest collection at New York Fashion Week as as part of RCI`s Romanian Fashion Showcase Program (4th edition). Lorena Pipenco`s SS2025 collection is a heartfelt tribute to the generational women who have profoundly influenced the designer's life, viewed through the lens of her younger self
Drawing inspiration from the strength and resilience of traditional Romanian women, Pipenco’s collection features upcycled and collected Romanian fabrics, tapestries, old lace, and pillowcases, reimagined into regal yet contemporary designs. The collection will include traditional motherly elements, a mixture of sculptural shapes, exaggerated accessories, and iconic furry textures, creating a striking blend of elegance and power. Models will showcase bold features to embody the inner strength of the women who inspired these pieces.
The collection will be presented in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute New York, further emphasizing Pipenco’s connection to her heritage. Additionally, the collection will feature a shoe line called Zubos, in collaboration with East Village Shoe Repair. This partnership will incorporate upcycled soles and select pieces from the shoemaker's personal collection of adjustable soles, merging traditional craftsmanship with modern design.
Pipenco’s commitment to sustainability extends through a partnership with "We Are Atlas," known for their playful eco-mission. This collaboration features hand-painted foldable tote bags with a secret eco-quiz, designed to engage and educate on environmental issues in an interactive way.
Pipenco’s NYFW presentation embodies her vision of intertwining cultural heritage with contemporary design, repurposing historic fabrics to evoke the warmth and wisdom of motherly influence. Each piece reflects a deep respect for traditional narratives, reimagined with a modern touch to honor the strength and grace of past generations.
