Mihók Tamás / Life Anew II



As the world seems eager to bounce back from isolation and fear, the pandemic remains a menacing presence and the new reality of our future life is still pretty much the realm of imagination. We have invited some of the most important Romanian contemporary authors to share their take on how they think the world would look like when the ordeal is over. The next guest in our long-running exercise in auctorial foresight is award winning bilingual poet, translator and editor Mihók Tamás who will share a striking video-poem entitled Ultimate Commodifications.

Mihók Tamás (b. 1991, Oradea) is a bilingual poet, translator and editor. He graduated from the Philology Department of University of Oradea. He was an exchange student at Eötvös Loránd University (Budapest) for two years. In 2019, he received his PhD in Philology at the "Petru Maior" University of Târgu-Mureş. He is constantly collaborating with cultural journals, such as Poesis Internațional, Várad, Familia and Fitralit. Author of six poetry books: Şantier în rai (2013), winrar de tot (2015), cuticular (2017), biocharia. ritual ecolatru (2020), cuticulum vitae (2017) and rizómazaj (2021) – the last two in Hungarian. He has translated four poetry books written by Radu Vancu, Constantin Virgil Bănescu, Krusovszky Dénes, Balázs F. Attila and also an anthology of contemporary Romanian poets. He is the winner of De-aş avea... (2014), Kinde Annamária Prize (2017), Romanian Writers’ Union Prize (Stand-up Poetry, 2019), Communitas Prize (for literary translations, 2019) and a member of FISZ (Young Hungarian Writers’ Union). Selections of his poems were translated into English, French, Italian, Greek, Polish, Swedish, Croatian and Hindi.


"Life Anew. Writers Imagine the World after the Pandemic" is a program of bilingual readings created together with the National Museum of Romanian Literature in Bucharest. The next authors in the series are Chris Tănăsescu and Lucian-Dan Teodorovici.
