About A2.1 Course

If you want to learn Romanian but it's hard for you to get to Manhattan or you live outside New York, we’ve got great news: we are continuing with our ONLINE course for adult beginners!

Enroll today in a state-of the-art online course that will equip you with an essential Romanian for everyday life, taught by a highly experienced instructor!

ONLINE COURSE FOR BEGINNERS, LEVEL A2.1

Optimal course duration: 40-hour module.

No more than 12 students in a group.

Class duration: 2 hours/twice a week.

When: Level A2.1 every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm EST, between September 24 and November 28.

Where: ONLINE, via ZOOM platform.

INSTRUCTOR

Dr. Julieta Paulesc is a Teaching Professor of Romanian and French Studies at Arizona State University (since 2003). She holds a MA in French/Comparative literature and a PhD in English (Applied linguistics) from Arizona State University.

WHAT TO EXPECT

A2.1 course advances the development of basic speaking, writing, reading, and cultural awareness skills. Interactive classroom activities focus on practicing everyday Romanian and will ultimately enable you to successfully handle a variety of tasks in straightforward social situations. You will be able to describe daily routines; request and give directions; discuss health, physical conditions, and survival needs; express emotions, wishes, doubts, and certainty; talk about hobbies and leisure activities; invite someone to a birthday celebration; inviting someone to a restaurant; order food; make travel arrangements; obtain information about people and things; make purchases; talk about relationships; express and react to opinions; narrate in the past.

Please note that all supplementary bank charges fall under the responsibility of the applicants.

The fee should be paid before the deadline of the enrollment, after receiving the confirmation of the class formation. Please make sure to explicitly write your full name and the designated address (Romanian Cultural Institute) for the receipt/bill on all the documents related to the bank transfer process.

Conditions of withdrawal from the course:

• If the Romanian  Cultural Institute in New York is informed in writing about the decision to withdraw before the course starts, the course fee will be refunded in full, minus an administrative charge of 10%.

• If the Romanian  Cultural Institute in New York is informed about the decision to withdraw in the first week after the course has begun, only the cost of unattended classes will be refunded, minus an administrative charge of 25%.

• No reimbursement will be made if the withdrawal occurs after the first week of the course.
